A great practice here is giving your teams time to experiment as a part of your roadmap. As an analytics manager, I was able to get a learning day for my team every two weeks. They used to spend the day learning stuff that wasn't immediately useful for any project at the time, but often turned out to be useful further in the future. It turned out to be a great investment, that paid off in two ways: 1. Loyalty and morale - analysts are natural learners, we create new knowledge after all. If you let an analyst grow their passion for learning, they'll appreciate it and will be more loyal and happy. 2. Unexpected breakthroughs - in the long term, new knowledge can be used to create a breakthrough project.

A very important aspect of leading an analytics team is to ensure your analysts understand the business they're supporting.
