Oftentimes a Program Manager may be required to be quite creative with managing project deadlines. Sometimes we may simply need to add additional resources (staff or equipment or both) to help crash a project schedule and keep deadline as per earlier customer commitment. However, if simply not feasible to crash, it may be necessary to work with the customer and their business operations, sales and marketing orgs to get a deeper understanding of options or alternatives that may work for them (we may see better options at this stage in project lifecycle), e.g. could we stagger the deliveries and create a phased project delivery / series of milestones or deadlines that work even better for both vendor & client than initial "big bang" approach?

You need to be considerable with the concepts of resourcing, timeliness, work packages, etc. Agile has a good prioritization rule of thumb: weighted shortest job first
