After looking and experiencing the CS academics and industry in different perspectives across domains, I can certainly assert that "committing to lifelong learning" is the only way to survive, especially it can assure you to never be scared of layoffs etc. When I say "lifelong learning", I do not mean to learn different technologies and languages etc, I mean to learn and understand the core of technologies, how they are built which are usually based on core CS principles. Such learning basically lets us learn any new technology or subject of interest with proper intuition, which is the key.
