What gets you a promotion, is a demonstration of your ABILITY TO TAKE ON HIGHER RESPONSIBILITIES. This has 2 implications: - you need to work on the skills needed for the higher level job (therefore working on YOURSELF, not only on your work) - these skills need to be visible by the decision makers and those influencing them (therefore networking, leading visible / key projects etc.) Of course, add to that the basics: - delivering performance in your current job (and exceeding expectations) - showing a great attitude and a behavior aligned with the company's expectations
