Here are some ways you can help your mentee communicate and present effectively in IT management.
Before preparing any communication or presentation, your mentee should identify and analyze the audience. Who are they? What are their needs, expectations, and preferences? How much technical knowledge do they have? How will they use the information? By answering these questions, your mentee can tailor the message, tone, format, and style to suit the audience and achieve the desired outcome.

This is extremely important. For Management or executive audiences typically messages should be kept at high level, fewer slides or shorter concise content. For more technical audience that are closes to the day to day typically a different level of detail it's expected and even the duration of the meeting may require to be different.
A clear and logical structure is the backbone of any effective communication or presentation. Your mentee should plan the structure by defining the main goal, the key points, the supporting evidence, and the call to action. A simple and common structure is the problem-solution-benefit model, where your mentee explains the problem, proposes a solution, and demonstrates the benefits. You can help your mentee plan the structure by reviewing the outline, suggesting improvements, and asking questions.

Structure is key and should always be present, you need to define clearly why it's important for the audience to be there and what's expected from them. Structure may differ depending the audience. For management or executive audiences we may want to convey messages in shorter slides, typically a one-pager for decision making oriented meetings is best, so you can summarize the business case being presented and scope, impact and call to action whily you talk. If you need to deep dive in a topic try to stick to high level and always use bullet points and visual aids. You can always have more content in the form of appendix but try to keep presentation shorter. Lastly, always remember to factor in the agenda enough time for Q&A.

Visual aids are powerful tools to summarize and ensure information is remembered. Visuals that represent numbers always needs to be as less cluttered as possible, use info cards, or trending charts with few categories on them. Everything should be understood with just a glance, if people needs to read in detail a visual aid to make sense of it, then it's not the right visual aid. Videos if appropriate always needs to be as short as possible, 1-3 min long tends to be the ideal. If we are talking about a presentation, then you can use also animations, as another use of visual aids is to keep the audience engaged, this is specially true for meetings longer than 30 min.

The delivery of any communication or presentation is as important as the content. Your mentee should practice the delivery by rehearsing, timing, and recording themselves. This will help your mentee improve their confidence, clarity, fluency, and body language. You can help your mentee practice the delivery by offering constructive criticism, encouragement, and tips. You can also role-play as the audience and ask questions, challenge assumptions, or provide feedback.

It is very important that you know your content upside-down. Also try to be natural in the way you deliver it, say true to your style and focus on be concise in your speech. Rehearsal is key and is always recommended that you write down your "script" to present, do that using your own natural style / language, do not make it overly formal or in a style that is not your own as you will definitely split throughout the presentation if you do that. Don't focus on memorizing either, questions more often than not will throw you out of the focus and to come back successfully a natural well understood presentation is always required.
The feedback of any communication or presentation is an opportunity for your mentee to learn, improve, and grow. Your mentee should handle the feedback by listening actively, responding politely, and taking notes. Your mentee should also follow up on the feedback by thanking the audience, addressing any concerns, and implementing any changes. You can help your mentee handle the feedback by sharing your own experiences, insights, and suggestions.
As a mentor, you can make a difference in your mentee's communication and presentation skills in IT management. By following these tips, you can help your mentee become a more effective and influential IT manager.

This is extremely important. One of the aspects you want to always instill in your audience is confidence, so you need to be open and confident even when you don't know how to respond to questions or feedback. If they give you feedback on the presentation, always thank them, take note and promise to include the feedback for the next time (and follow it through). If they ask questions on the content that you cannot answer or throw you off, then confidently reply saying things like "great question", "you have a valid point" followed by saying that you will get back to them on the question as you may have to confirm with the appropriate stakeholder / SME and always convey a timeframe to come back to them.
