Think about what the reporting standards will be in the future and make sure that the software can adapt to rules and regulations as they come out. It's important that the software can connect with other systems and data sources in your company through API connections. This will make the reporting process more organized and streamlined. Check the software to see ensure it is intuitive and you don't need to be an expert to use it. Ease of use is what I have felt to be the most important differentiator when I am comparing softwares.
