Operational Planning needs to be defined correctly. Operational Planning is to operationalise a strategy; not to rewrite strategy or change resources. Unless you understand what is required you will not be unsuccessful. A company may have in their strategy large increase of production of a widget to meet forecast demand and set-side funding for a new factory. Operationalising that strategy requires planning where the factory is to be built, is there a trained workforce, are all elements of the supply chain available, can finished widgets be moved quickly, is there a appropriate construction company, price of the land etc.
